Pittsburgh Scholar House, a nonprofit affiliate of Louisville, Kentucky-based Family Scholar House that aims to help parents achieve their educational goals, has a new leader.
In a release on Monday, the organization announced that it has named Daren Ellerbee as its new CEO, taking over from previous CEO Diamonte Walker, who led the 2022 launch of the local nonprofit among other early growth initiatives and departed from the role earlier this year.
Ellerbee joins after most recently serving as head of the Pittsburgh Innovation Team out of the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins in Maryland. Prior to that, she served as director of the University Educational Outreach Center within the Office of the Provost at the University of Pittsburgh.
“It is a privilege to lead Pittsburgh Scholar House and to carry forward its mission of empowering parents and children together on their journey to brighter futures,” Ellerbee said in a prepared statement. “As a Pittsburgher, I have witnessed the remarkable resilience and talent within our communities. I am eager to collaborate with families and partners to break down barriers, expand access to education, and build opportunities that will benefit generations to come.”
