📚✨ In partnership with The Young Dreamers’ Bookstore, our PSH Next Gen Scholar Initiative Parent Lab brought families together for a powerful three-part workshop series, facilitated by Dr. Nosakhere Griffin-El.
Using culturally relevant children’s literature, Dr. Griffin-El guided parents through engaging sessions on building social-emotional learning skills and dreaming with books.
Each week, families took home a new book to continue the learning at home. The series wrapped up with a joyful parent-child activity where families put their newly created literacy tools into action—making learning both fun and meaningful.
This hands-on series marks the second initiative in our year-long Next Gen programming, and we are so proud of the connections, skills, and joy it sparked.
“I found the parent lab to be great. Especially getting to interact with different families and hear their experiences with their children and reading. It’s good to hear different strategies in getting your child to love reading. The free books were amazing! It was a wonderful experience and I hope it happens again!
“My son found it entertaining. I am working on him to love reading and books also….he liked it overall and was excited when I told him where we were going.” – Scholar Nakelia Brewer
Stay tuned for our upcoming program on Self-Care Housekeeping, designed to help parents and children recharge, refresh, and get ready for a successful new school year.
